The following article was brought to our attention recently from a leading Magnesium expert; Dr. Carolyn Dean.
Carolyn Dean is a medical doctor and naturopath. She has authored and co-authored over 35 books including The Magnesium Miracle, IBS for Dummies, Hormone Balance, Death by Modern Medicine, and 110 Kindle books.
She is respected amonst her peers and follows a naturopathic ideology to health with a futuristic approach.
“The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and in the cause and prevention of disease. ~ ”
Per recent correspondence between our Registered Dietitian and Dr Dean, please reveiw the following information and study.
A study published in the journal Mayo Clinic Proceedings says that white males who exercised more than an hour a day nearly doubled their risk of heart disease and the researchers don’t know why.
Those who exercised more than 7.5 hours a week were 86 percent more likely to experience a buildup of plaque in the heart arteries. (Plaque is composed of fats, cholesterol, calcium and other substances in the blood.) Using the new Coronary Artery Calcium Scan, researchers were shocked to find these results and they are scrambling to find a reason. It was suggested that high levels of exercise over time caused stress on the arteries leading to higher Coronary Artery Calcification.
So, the more you exercise the more magnesium you lose and the more calcium will build up. Therefore, this increased risk of artery calcification is less likely to happen in magnesium sufficient subjects.
Magnesium deficiency aggravates cardiac damage due to acute systemic stress (such as caused by infection or trauma) and taking a well absorbed magnesium is protective. Similarily and surprisingly some forms of extreme fitness can induce systematic stress, especially when combined with restrictive, magnesium-deficient diets like vegan, paleo, and ketogenic.
Magnesium supplementation protects the heart against stress. This has been found true even in the absence of an actual magnesium deficit in the body.
Magnesium also helps relax muscle tissues, especially the heart. All-in-all magnesium helps the heart resist the effects of systemic stress.
This recent information is alarming for our endurance community and was for ourselves here at MOXiLIFE.
Our foundation and beginnings @ MOXiLIFE is to provide an education to better personal health athlete or spectathlete.
When we put the time and research in on the issues many athletes have to include and not limited too, muscle cramping, bloating and digetion issues, restless legs, & sleeping issues….We found magnesium to be a critical link to allot of the aforementioned problems.
This furthered our interest to provide a simple solution to elevate magnesium levels wihtin the cells.
We are passionate about health and helping others.
Passing along valid information for our endurance community; helping everyone understand the necessity of nutrition specifics and ingredients, is our contribution to increase our societies health. We are chipping away at education by conversing with athletes at IM events and whenever we can bend your ear. Please reach out to find out more our subscribe to our email list.
